Position Statement

It is our intention at Mudd Puppies to provide a safe, clean, comfortable, and friendly environment to care for a dog's basic hygienic needs. We attempt to stay abreast of the latest trends and research, updating our procedures as needed. Our bathing products are chosen to be the most effective, comfortable, ecologically friendly. It is also our intent to be informed of the most recent studies, research, and information on training techniques and behavior and to make this information available when requested or deemed necessary.

In order to make a visit to Mudd Puppies as comfortable as possible for you and your dog, we strongly discourage the use of positive punishment techniques such as hitting, scolding, or leash corrections. We also discourage the use of choke collars, prong collars and shock collars (eCollars). It is our firm belief that there are much more humane and effective training techniques, and our hope is that our books and products available for sale and the information and advice we are happy to share reflect that position. (For more information on this topic, please visit our blog.)

Because Missouri leads the country in the number of puppy mills and we do not have the time to visit each breeder to verify their integrity, it is our policy to neither advertise, endorse nor recommend any breeders. We encourage people to visit their local shelter or a breed specific rescue if they are looking for a dog. We also strongly encourage people to educate themselves about puppy mills if they are looking to purchase a dog from a breeder and know what signs to look for.
